Summer Birthdays...Why so much cake in the summer? Not that we are complaining! Tony's birthday is in June then 6 weeks or so later the birthday marathon begins. Cinda is July 22, Corynn is July 30, and then Chloe is August 10th. All about 10 days apart. These are a few pictures from the events...
Where did the summer go? We were so busy that time flew by. Lots of travels and not much in the way of lazy summer days.... We were also blessed to have had the chance to go to Sacramento to see Alec and Cari get married. The man marrying them was Cari's grandpa and he kept calling Alec "Alex". Oops... maybe he will learn soon that is a no no. Here are just a few pictures of other adventures and birthdays that went on in all the craziness...
Our cross country trip this year brought us to an old haunted frontier prison, Martins Cove, Mount Rushmore, Mall of America in Minneapolis, Ferry Boat across Lake MI, to our family time in Lake Ann, to St Louis Arch, Branson Missouri, through Fantastic cave, and to the Meteor Crater in Arizona. It was exhausting but memories!!! Treasures.
We finally went with our kids to a Memorial Day Program! Tony's dad Boyd recited a poem called "Flanders Field". We shared this experience with Sarah, Dorothy, Dayna, and Jill. I always cry like a baby at patriotic things. I am so proud of our brave soldiers and servicemen that daily stand in harms way for a cause they believe in even when so many are against it back at home. It breaks my heart to hear from the old timers in uniform who have been through so much. They leave behind stories and an incredible legacy.
Now our boy Christian is among the metal mouth victims. He has had a wonderful time learning to eat again and will soon get four teeth pulled and have to deal with pain yet again. Poor guy. He has been a good sport and looks a lot different now. Still handsome though ...so I might need to ask for lots of rubber bands and headgear so the girls will leave him alone. He is learning to the joys of good oral hygiene which has never been a priority for him. Two years of fun!
Mom and Dad just left today. We had a great visit together and were so happy to have them in our home. We spent a day at Bryce Canyon and other days running around town. We went through some million dollar model homes and walked trails. A little shopping, too. It was nice weather most of the days. Great memories... we will see them again in July.
Easter 2008 A beautiful springtime day with blossoms in full bloom and allergies in full swing. Chloe woke up and found every ones baskets. She was so excited. We had a packed house at church and a nice dinner after. It was wonderful to be reminded of our Saviors mission and Resurrection. We are so blessed to have the gospel and to have a loving Savior who would do what he did for us. The ultimate act of love. A great reminder that the sweetest things in life are not candy!!
These days Sadie is into dressing up and changing her clothes. She is a busy little 2 year old but very sweet.
There is actually no reason to get her dressed because she is never in anything for very long. She prefers to be a nudey but of course we are trying to teach modesty.
March will be exciting-- Spring break starts friday- ten days of craziness. Then of course there is easter and then nana and papa visit at the end. It will be another month of fun and busy bliss. We are all sharing the genetic flaw of allergies as the trees and flowers start to pop. It has been 70! We love springtime!!
SO far--February brought with it a chipped tooth for Chloe- of course her new adult front tooth. It has been bonded but it was a sad day. Christian shaved for the first time- (see picture) he had an annoying mustache that had to go. That was a funny experience to see him trying to do what his dad showed him as we all laughed and I took pictures. Sadie used the potty for the first time and did it all (to put the news politely), not bad for the first success. I'm sure they will all not be so exciting and in the right spot. (I have been through this a few times with kids). Parenthood. The good news is that the kids are doing well in school and get paid for every A only. They are determined to break the bank. Chloe is reading!! She has come such a long way this year!
This is the place where I make sense of it all. Learning from the highs, the lows, the chaotic waves of a busy life with 4 kids. We're all on this journey together and so far it's been one outstanding adventure.
"Women of God can never be like women of the world. The world has enough women who aretough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who arecoarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enoughpopularity; we need more purity."
